Area Information

Ceantar na nOileán is made up of a group of Islands off the west Connemara coast. The Islands are linked by a chain of bridges. Approx 30 miles from Galway City, the area is rich in unspoilt beaches, nature trails and heritage. As they are not listed in most tourist literature, they really are a hidden gem!
Play a round of golf at the Connemara Isles Golf Links, step back in time at the Lettermullen Heritage Centre, then take a break in the Millennium Gardens. Enjoy lunch or a light meal in one of our restaurants, this is the perfect way to sustain yourself for a day at the beach or to follow one of the walks around the Islands. With panoramic views wherever you look, it is a feast for the senses. Music and entertainment in the pubs at weekends and with Hooker and Currach racing throughout the summer months, you'll wonder how you didn't discover us sooner!!

If Ireland was a garden, then Connemara would be the rockery and Ceantar na nOileán is a prime example of this. Rocky landscapes are interspersed with flora and fauna to provide a wonderful array of colour, whatever the season.

The 5 Islands in Ceantar na nOileán are Annaghvane, Lettermore, Garumna, Lettermullen, and Furnish. Each Island is linked to the next by a chain of bridges, with Annaghvane linked by bridge to the mainland at Bealadangan. There are more, smaller Islands but they are only accessible by boat.

A good way to fully appreciate the scenery is to follow one of the marked walkways around the Islands. Each walk has its own breathtaking views as well as piers and the ruins of ancient buildings to explore along the way.
